Home Improvement Program

A brand new kitchen
Sharon Forde contracted with Right on Time Construction (RTC), a local contractor who happens to be a woman and a person of color, to completely remodel her kitchen. RTC installed new countertops, cabinets, and kitchen floor tiles. Ms. Forde was “very satisfied” with the work of RTC, so much so that her family will be using them for future home projects. Ms. Forde describes the best part of the program as the moment she saw her Mom’s face when she saw the new kitchen. “She’s been wanting a new kitchen for almost 10 years,” says Forde.

Improving safety and curb appeal
Like Sharon Forde, Cynthia Hutchins contracted with Right on Time Construction (RTC) to repair the exterior of her house, including the extensive damage on the front steps which posed a safety hazard. Her 3-story home was repainted in a cool smoke grey color, giving it a modern, sleek feel. Her porch and front door were also repaired to improve the look and feel of the unit. Ms. Hutchins says that the Home Improvement Program gave her the chance to “just make me feel better about my home.”

Brightening up the neighborhood
The home of this participant, who asked to remain anonymous, was completely remodeled, so much so that neighbors were inquiring about the repairs. “The grant was the push I needed to do a lot of work to make my home look much better,” said the homeowner. It gave them additional insight on how to continue to add utility and value into their home and neighborhood.
